Subject: How to Setup an External PS/2 Wheel Mouse on the WinBook XL2D or XL2D2

Please Note: In order to follow this WinBook Tech Article you have to update the BIOS of the XL2D to version 1.10 If you have not downloaded the newest BIOS then go to the DRIVERS section and click on the XL2 BIOS link. Make sure you follow all the directions on the page to get the BIOS updated. After you have successfully updated the BIOS then you can start on the instructions below.

  1. Shut down the unit. Connect the external ps/2 wheel mouse to the ps/2 port on the back of the unit or the port replicator.
  2. Turn the unit on. You will see a message that says press DEL for setup. Press the DEL key until you get into the blue BIOS setup screen. Press the Down Arrow key to move to the Advanced CMOS Setup. Press the Enter key once.
  3. Press the Down Arrow key to highlight PS/2 Device. Press the PgDn key until it is set to Disable Touchpad. Press the Esc key and then press F10. It will ask you "Save current settings and exit?" Press the Y key and then press Enter.
  4. The computer will restart and begin to boot to windows normally. Once in windows the external ps/2 mouse should work.
