Warning: Please make sure that there are no external devices, including port replicator or PCMCIA card, attached to the unit. Running battery calibration with other devices attached could result in inaccurate battery readings.

  • With the battery in the unit, plug in the A/C power and let the battery fully charge. The battery charging light will change from amber to green once the battery is fully charged. If your battery is not charging properly, you may begin the procedure after leaving the computer plugged in for 3 to 4 hours, even if the battery is not fully charged.
  • Go to the CMOS setup program by tapping the DEL key immediately after booting the unit at rate of about twice per second.
  • Go to the power management section of the CMOS setup program to confirm that all power management is disabled.
  • In the power management section, select Battery Auto Calibration and press PgDn.
  • Leave the unit plugged in to the A/C power. The calibration utility will first drain, then recharge the battery, and the unit will power off by itself when finished charging. This process may take up to 10 hours to complete. Let the battery fully charge. The battery will charge faster if the unit in not turned on this wil also enable the calibration to be more accurate. When calibration is complete, the message "Congratulations on completing battery calibration" will appear on the display.
