An icon for a 5 ¼ inch floppy disk drive under My Computer on the WinBook XLi indicates that a user or supervisor password has been set in the Pheonix Bios Setup. Also, that Password on Bootup has been enabled. This makes the actual 3 ½ inch floppy drive inaccessible without entering the appropriate password. You may recover from this by disabling the passwords and Password on Bootup, provided that you know the actual passwords.
OR, From Windows, go to Start/Shut Down/Restart, and begin tapping the F2 key when the display goes blank The computer will now boot up with no request for a password. The actual 3 ½ inch floppy disk drive will now be accessible. The icon for drive "A" in My Computer will be for the 3 ½ inch floppy drive. |
