Subject: How to install the US Robotics Palm Pilot Personal Edition on the WinBook XLi

  1. Plug in the Palm Pilot cradle to the back of the XLi to the serial port which will be com1.
  2. Place the Palm Pilot software CD into the CD-ROM drive.
  3. Go to the run command under the start button, then type d:/setup then hit enter.
  4. Click on the install button. Then click the install button one more time.
  5. Click the next button. Enter your user name, then hit next one more time.
  6. Then chose the Palm Pilot program components you want to install on to you WinBook then click next.
  7. Then click next, then next one more time after that.
  8. Then click the yes button so the program can detect your WinBook available com ports. At this point the program may or may not say that a modem is an attached to the com1 port. Highlight the com1 port weather there is or there isn’t a modem seen on the port and click ok.
  9. Then the program will ask if you want to view the read me file.
  10. If you click no, then click on the return to the Palm Pilot CD button, then it will take you back to the mane menu.
  11. Then you if you click the quit button two times it will take you out of the installation software.
  12. Now your Palm Pilot is reedy for use. To synchronize the information on the Palm Pilot and your WinBook computer click on the hotsync button.
