  1. Insure your WinBook XLi is turned off and the AC adapter is disconnected.
  2. Locate the Docking Port Connector on the rear of the XLi. There is a door that covers this connector when not in use. Flip the door down and slide it in and out of the way. Make sure the access flap to the XLi ports is closed. (Refer to Image #2 - Point "A")
  3. Hook the Port Replicator Docking Lug (Refer to Image #1 - Point "B") into the XLi Docking Lug Connection Point (Refer to Image #2 - Point "C").
  4. With the Docking Lug hooked into the XLi, align the Docking port connectors on the Port Replicator and the XLi and close the Port Replicator into place until the Release latch on the Port Replicator locks into place. (Refer to both images).
  5. The XLi AC Adapter can now be plugged into the Port Replicator. (Refer to the Icons on the top of the Port Replicator).
  6. Connect your devices referring to the Icons on the top of the Port Replicator.
  7. Turn your XLi on and let Windows 95 Start. Windows 95 may find all connected devices automatically. If any of the devices, such as a serial mouse, are not detected you can run the Add New Hardware Wizard to have Windows 95 search for them.
  8. To do this, left click on Start, Settings, Control Panel.

Double left click on the Add New Hardware icon.

Left click on Next, Next, Next when the Add New Hardware Wizard screen comes up.

When this process finishes, you can view the detected hardware by left clicking on the Details button.

  9. If your devices are not functioning properly on the Port Replicator, try the following trouble shooting steps:
  • Make sure the Port Replicator is fully seated and the release latch is completely closed and locked in place
  • Try releasing and reconnecting the Port Replicator several times to insure a good connection.
  • Insure all devices are connected with the computer turned off.
  • If some devices are working and others aren't, try other devices in place of the non-functioning ones.

If these steps fail to get the Port Replicator working, contact your local WinBook Retailer.
