- What display resolution can my internal LCD support?
- The XL has 2 different screens. It has
a 13.3" and a 12.1" screen. The 13.3" can support 1024
by 768 pixels, but the 12.1" screen can only support 800 by 600
pixels.
- How long should the battery last on
my XL?
- This time can vary greatly depending on
the model of XL and the usage of the computer. If you purchased the
233 MHz Intel Tillamook and a Lithium Ion Battery then you can expect
over 3 hours. Other higher voltage processors and the optional Nickel
Metal Hydride battery can reduce that life significantly. Down to around
1 hour depending on the usage of the computer.
- What type of modem is in my computer?
- If you purchased the internal modem, then
it is a 56k LT WinModem that is KFlex compatible. The AT Command Set
Summary is available in the XL Help file.
- My touchpad is too sensitive. Is there
anything I can do about that?
- The touchpad can be disabled, but there
are no sensitivity controls for the touchpad. There is an option in
the System BIOS to disable the touchpad or connect an external PS/2
mouse.
- I am trying to use a Zoom Video card
on my XL, but it will not work in the top slot.
- Both PCMCIA slots will support CardBus
cards, but only the bottom slot is ZV compatible.
- My PCMCIA modem will not make any noise.
It will connect and work, but I do not hear it dialing.
- There are new PCMCIA socket drivers for
Win95 that correct that problem. Connect to the Drivers section under
XL on our website and download the newer PCMCIA drivers.
- When I restart in MS-DOS mode after
being in Windows 95 my computer hangs for about 3 minutes and then works
fine.
- Remove the line "C:\WINDOWS\COMMAND\MSCDEX.EXE
/D:MSCD000" from the DOSSTART.BAT file. You can also make sure
that there is not a CD in the CD-ROM drive when you restart.
- Whenever I plug in my computer I get
an amber light on the battery charging indicator. This will last for
several minutes even if the battery is fully charged.
- This is normal for the XL. When the battery
is full or nearly full it slowly trickle charges the battery. This is
so it will not accidentally overcharge the battery, and insure the battery
is fully charged.
- My XL came with Internet Explorer 4.0
and I decided to remove it. Now I can not access my Modem dialing properties.
- To correct this problem, connect to the
Drivers section of the XL on our website and download the Modem Fix
file. This will extract a file you need to access the dialing properties,
which is sometimes removed when IE 4.0 is uninstalled.
- When I close my display the computer
will go into suspend. How can I make this stop?
- When booting the computer, press the DEL
key to enter the system BIOS. Under the Advanced Settings change Boot
Display to Simul. This will make the computer think you have an external
monitor and not suspend when you close the screen.
