The WinBook XL has two Universal Serial Bus (USB) ports. USB is a new standard for connecting external devices which provides both power and automatic device recognition. Up to 127 USB devices may be connected and recognized. Devices may be connected in daisy chain fashion as long as the devices themselves have a USB port.

  1. Insert the end of the cable from the USB device into the USB port on the back of the WinBook XL.
  2. The device will be detected when the WinBook XL power is on. If off, turn the computer on. You may be asked for a driver disk. This disk should be supplied with the USB product.
    • Currently available USB devices include keyboards, mice, scanners, and Printers
    • Powered USB hubs are available for connecting multiple USB devices lacking their own USB ports
    • Your computer can be on or off to connect a USB device
