There are 3 ways to disable the touch pad on the WinBook XL:

1. To disable the touch pad and use an external PS/2 mouse. Connect a PS/2 mouse to the PS/2 port on rear of unit. Power up unit and tap the Del key. This will bring you to the BIOS setup menu. Select the Advanced Setup menu and press the Enter key. Set the PS/2 device to Auto, then press the Esc key once, press F10 once and then the Enter key. This will save the changes made and reboot into Windows. Once in Windows, the external mouse and the track point will work, and the touch pad will be disabled.

2. To disable the touch pad and not have an external mouse connected.

Power up unit and press the Del key. Select Advanced setup and press the Enter key. Change the PS/2 device to Track point and external mouse. Press the Esc key once, press the F10 key once and hit the Enter key. When it is booted into Windows, the track point will work and the touch pad will be disabled.

3. To disable the touch pad and track point entirely.

Power up the unit and press the DEL key. Select Advanced setup and press the Enter key. Change the PS/2 device to disabled. Press the Esc key once, press F10 once and then the Enter key. When booted up into Windows, the touch pad and the track point will be disabled. With this setting you will have to use the keys to move around in Windows.
