The WinBook XP5 Pro is manufactured to a high standard of quality; however, it must be handled in a manner suitable for electronic equipment. The purpose of this WinBook Tech Article is to give basic guidelines for handling and usage of your WinBook XP5 Pro. Handling: Q. How should handle my computer when I am using it? A. When in use, the WinBook XP5 Pro should be on a flat, horizontal, level surface. Serious damage can occur if the computer falls. Q. Dont the rubber feet on the computer keep it from sliding? A. The rubber feet do provide resistance against sliding, but they will not keep the computer from sliding off of a slick or inclined surface. Q. Can I use my computer when I am lying on my bed or on carpet? A. It is not advisable to use the computer with it lying on an insulating surface, such as carpeting or blankets. Insulating surfaces can block the venting ports and cause overheating of the system. Q. What should I do if I spill liquid on the computer. A. Do not eat or drink when using the computer. Be particularly careful about drinking around the computer. Spilled liquids can cause expensive damage to your computer. If you should spill liquid on the computer, contact WinBook Tech Support for service. Q. Are there any considerations when carrying the WinBook? A. The WinBook does not have a handle or rough surface for sure grip, so always use a carrying case when transporting the WinBook. Carrying cases should have padding to absorb shock, but most padded cases will not protect your computer from a fall or bump against a hard object. Q. Are there any special considerations for transporting the WinBook while traveling? A. Never check your WinBook as luggage when traveling. Luggage is subjected to shock that can cause damage to and data loss on a computer that is packed in any case. Always carry on your computer so that you can monitor its safe handling. When passing through airport security. Try to avoid sending the computer trough x-ray machines. Generally airport security will allow you to turn on the computer and pass it around the gate. X-rays and magnetic fields can cause data loss on your hard drive.
Environmental Considerations: Q. What are the operating temperatures for the WinBook XP5 Pro? A. Do not use or store your WinBook in very cold, warm or humid environments. Operating temperature for the WinBook XP5 Pro is 41° F (5° C) to 95° F (35° C). Storage temperature for the WinBook XP5 Pro is -04° F (-20° C) to 120° F (60° C) System use when relative humidity above 85% should be avoided. Q. Does this mean that I shouldnt leave the computer in my car? A. Yes, the interior of an automobile can easily exceed the maximum temperature in the summer and the minimum temperature in winter. When you think of leaving the computer in a car, always consider the temperature that the interior will reach. Q. Can I use the WinBook in outdoor environments. A. Yes, but avoid using or storing your WinBook in excessively dusty environments. Dust can clog your computers ventilation system and cause overheating and damage to the components of your computer. And remember the temperature and moisture concerns. Q. What is a safe altitude when using the WinBook? A. Operation at high altitudes can lower disk drive reliability. You should avoid use of the WinBook at altitudes above 8,000 feet (2624 m) unless you are in a pressurized environment such as a pressurized airplane. Your WinBook is an advanced piece of computer equipment. Please take precautions to assure safe usage of the computer.
