To set up your WinBook LM Port Replicator on you WinBook LM, please follow these instructions

  1. With the WinBook LM turned off, verify there are no devices attached to the back of the WinBook LM, and make sure your floppy disk drive is in the unit, not the CD-ROM. Place the unit in the port replicator. At this time the latching handle is the up position. Press the WinBook LM firmly into the dock so the ports of each are firmly connected. While holding the WinBook in this position press the handle down. At this time please do not plug any peripherals into the Port Replicator.
  2. Power the computer up.
  3. When the computer enters Windows 95, it will begin a Hardware Detection process. Let the hardware detection processes complete and it will notify you of the successful configuration of "Dock 1"
  4. Click on "OK"
  5. Now you will be completely booted into windows and at you desktop

Setting up Display Properties

  1. After the new configuration has been created your display settings need to be setup to display at 800x600
  2. We will need your "Windows 95 Drivers for WinBook LM; Audio ESS 1688; Video NeoMagic 128 5.2
  3. Insert this diskette into your Floppy disk drive and click on Start, choose Settings, and then click on Control Panel.
  4. In the control panel double click on the Display icon.
  5. Click on the Settings tab, then click on the Advanced Properties button.
  6. In the Advanced Display Properties choose the Monitor tab and click the change button.
  7. In the Select Device window click on OK.
  8. Now choose Apply, then choose OK.
  9. Now move the Desktop Area slider to the right until it says 800 by 600 pixels
  10. Click Apply then answer yes to restart your computer
  11. After the computer is done restarting, you will be back at your desktop with the correct display settings.

FAQ

Q. After installing my Port Replicator, I can no longer print. What could be wrong?

A. Check to make sure that your printers are not set to "Work Offline" This is done by clicking on Start, then settings and choose printers. Right click on the printer you are attempting to print to and verify that "Work Offline" is Unchecked. If this was checked please uncheck it and try printing again.
