  • If you are not getting an initial system beep when the computer is turned on the internal sound card is not functioning at all and will need to be service. At this point you will need to call WinBook Tech Support to have this setup for repair.
  • If you are not getting any Windows sounds but you do get the initial system beep on boot up. (This is probably a software problem)
  1. Make sure that your floppy drive is in the computer.
  2. Go to Start, Settings, Control Panel and double click on the System icon.
  3. In the System Properties window, select the Device Manager tab.
  4. Click on the plus sign next to Sound, Video and Game controllers.
  5. Highlight the "ESS es1688" Sound driver by single clicking on it.
  6. Click on the "Remove" button and then OK to confirm the removal.
  7. Close the System Properties window.
  8. Go to Start, Programs, MS Dos prompt
  9. At the c:\windows\> type CD.. to bring you back to a "c:\>"
  10. Insert the diskette labeled "Windows 95 Drivers Audio and Video" into the floppy drive.
  11. At the c:\> type copy a:\audio\*.* c:\windows\system
  12. Once it finishes copies files click on the X at the top right corner of this window to close it.
  13. Go to Start, Shutdown, Restart and click OK.
  14. After the unit reboots a dialog box will appear saying that windows has found new hardware and is installing the drivers.
  15. Go to Start, Shutdown, Restart and click OK once more.
  16. If this does not fix the problem you will need to call WinBook Tech Support.
