- When I hooked my LM up to my Port Replicator, Windows 95 changed
the video resolution to a "large type" display
Why?
- When on the Port Replicator, Windows 95
uses a different profile. It will create it the first time the computer
is docked. When the profile is created it will revert the display settings
back to their lowest settings. To change your display back to what it
was previously, adjust the display settings to 800 by 600 pixels using
256 colors. This can be done by clicking on the Start button,
going up to Settings, and over to Control Panel. From
here double click on the Display icon. Now along the top of this
window you will see some tabs, the tab to the far right says Settings,
click on this tab. It is here you will change your display settings.
Move the Desktop area slider to the right until you read 800x600
as your viewing area. Also make sure that your color palette reads 256
colors (this is the maximum number of colors that you will be able to
reach.) Now click on OK at the bottom. When it asks you for a
monitor say yes and select Laptop display panel 1024 by 768. This will
put your display settings back to their original state.
- When I have my LM hooked up to the Port Replicator with an external
mouse attached, I cant get my touchpad to work.
- When an external PS/2 mouse is attached
to the WinBook LM, the touchpad is automatically disabled. The two devices
can not be active at the same time.
- When I go to hook the LM to the Port Replicator, I get nothing
beeps and it wont boot up.
- Turn your LM off and try to re-dock it
with firm pressure. Grab the computer from the front and the Port Replicator
from the back and firmly press the two components together. Once the
two devices are parallel and firmly attached then close the latch mechanism.
- I am running Windows for Workgroups and when I undock my computer
I get a series of beeps. Is this normal?
- This is normal. Windows for Workgroups
is just seeing that you have undocked the machine.
- My external devices are not working while I am attached to the
Port Replicator. They do work when attached directly to the LM itself.
Whats wrong?
- More than likely the LM is not docked
properly. See the above question on docking the LM.
- The WinBook LM will not print when attached to the Port Replicator.
If I attach the printer directly to the computer it will work fine.
What can I do?
- The LM might not be docked properly, but
if you believe it is and you have just recently setup your docked configuration
go to the Printer setup menu. Click on the Start button, go up
to Settings, and over to Printers. From here right click
on your printer. If there is a listing for work offline remove the check
mark from that option.
