The WinBook LM has a maximum capacity of 40 MB of Ram. If that amount is already installed then there is no further memory upgrade possible.

There are two memory sockets, but they must be matched pairs. For information on what modules to purchase, please call our Sales department at 800-468-7502 between the hours of 8 am to 9 pm Monday through Friday, and on Saturdays from 9 am to 4 pm EST.

Your computer, especially RAM, is extremely static-sensitive. Static electricity can permanently damage the memory modules. It is therefore important to properly ground yourself before handling the memory module(s). Discharge any static electricity by touching the metal shielding around the connectors on the rear of the notebook computer. Typical grounds are a radiator or a printer case when your unit is plugged in.

You may find it helpful to refer to Figure 6-1 and Figure 6-2 while reading the following directions.

  1. The memory door is located on the underside of the notebook. It is held in place by Phillips screws. Please see Figure 6-1. Remove the screws and the plastic covering to reveal the memory DIMM (Dual Inline Memory Module) slots.
  2. After the memory door has been opened, the memory modules can be removed by pressing outwards on the two clips at the edges of the plastic slots simultaneously. This should cause the module to pop up at a 45-degree angle. Do this for both modules.
  3. Insert the new memory into the slots at 45-degree angles and then gently, but firmly, push the DIMM until it locks in place and lies horizontally in its slot. Please refer to Figure 6-2.
  4. Now replace the memory door in the reverse order from which it was removed.
  5. When you turn your unit back on for the first time it will inform you that the memory count was incorrect and ask you to press F2 to enter setup. Press F2 at this time. Using your arrow keys, move to the right until Exit is highlighted. Save changes and Exit should be highlighted, if it is not use your arrow keys to select it and then press Enter.
  6. Your computer should now see the new amount of RAM.
