Equipment needed:

  • Small Phillips Head Screwdriver

  • WinBook FX RAM Module

  1. Make sure that the computer is turned off. Make sure that you are well grounded before installing the ram by either using a wrist grounding strap or discharging static by touching metal. Electrostatic discharge can cause damage to SIMMS and other computer components.
  2. Turn unit over with hinge side facing away from you.
  3. Unplug unit from electricity and remove the battery.
  4. Using a small Phillips head screwdriver remove the screw from the middle of the RAM compartment.
  5. Inside the compartment you will see one or two RAM modules.
  6. If neither of the compartments is empty you will need to replace one of the modules to complete your upgrade.
  7. To remove a RAM module gently pull upwards until it becomes free.
  8. To insert the RAM module turn it with the white plastic connector facing down and towards you then snap it firmly into place.
  9. Replace the RAM cover on the bottom of the unit.
  10. Replace the battery.
  11. Turn your unit on. When it boots up you will get a message saying that the RAM count was incorrect. Press F2 to enter setup.
  12. Using your right arrow key select exit. Hit your enter key to save changes and exit. Hit any key to continue.
  13. Windows 95 will now boot up with your new ram configured in it.
