This WinBook Tech Article is provided for information on the new batteries being sold for the WinBook XP/XP5.

  1. The new replacement batteries for the XP/XP5 are rated for a higher amount of charge than the original batteries.
  2. These batteries are installed the same way as the previous ones.
  3. To replace the battery pack, turn off the computer and unplug the ac adapter. Then turn the computer over and slide the retaining latch away from the battery pack. The battery will pop up and you can then pull it out. Put the replacement battery in the way the original came out. Make sure the latch secures the battery in place so it will not fall out when you turn the computer right side up.
  4. If you are using a replacement battery for the first time, make sure you charge it fully.
  5. The new battery pack holds more current and lasts longer. As a consequence the computer’s monitoring of the battery’s charge is not accurate.
  6. The battery indicator led at the top of the keyboard looses its first bar after about ten minutes, it loses its second bar after about twenty minutes and the third bar disappears after about 40 minutes.
  7. The last bar will flash and the battery will continue to last 1 to 2 more hours depending on usage.
  8. If the unit starts to beep you can turn the volume knob on the left side of the unit away from you.
