Caution: Your RAM (random access memory) modules, are extremely static-sensitive. Static electricity will permanently damage your chips. It is therefore important to discharge the static electricity from your body before installing the memory module. Discharge your body's electricity by touching the metal shielding around the connectors on the rear of the notebook computer.

1. Turn off the computer and disconnect all cables and the AC adapter.

2. Turn the computer upside down and remove the battery.

3. Remove the three Phillips-head screws that secure the plastic compartment cover panel and remove the cover panel. (fig. 1)

4. Remove the four Phillips-head screws that secure the metal heat sink panel and remove the panel. WARNING: In some units, the heat sink is attached directly to the CPU with double sided transfer tape. Use caution when lifting the heat sink as it could cause the CPU to pull out of the socket. (fig. 2)

5. Remove the existing memory module by holding it at the edges and gently lifting it out of the sockets and out to the right.

6. Slide the left edge of the upgrade module under the compartment lip so that you can line up the connectors on the underside of the module with the sockets in the compartment. Press the module connectors into the sockets.

7.   Replace the heat sink and cover panels being careful not to over tighten the screws.

8.   Turn on the computer. The system will automatically detect the additional memory, beep. When prompted, press 'F2' to run the Setup program. You should see that the extended memory total listed on Page 1 has increased. Press 'Esc' and then 'F4' and the new memory configuration will be saved and the system will reboot.
