Verify your present BIOS version. You can verify the version by looking at the BIOS information screen that appears on boot up.

The BIOS screen information will look like this:

If the above line reads anything other than 1.07 please contact WinBook Tech Support at 1-800-468-1225.

  1. If the reference line appears as above then proceed with step 2.
  2. WARNING: You CAN NOT use a Suspend to Disk partition on 2gig or larger hard disk drives in the WinBook XP. Doing so will PERMANENTLY damage the hard drive.

  3. Power down the computer and remove the A/C power cord and the battery.
  4. Remove the large head screw from the bottom of the unit.
  5. Remove the hard drive from the unit. The hard drive is located in the front right corner of the unit from the operating position.
  6. Remove the rail kit from the old hard drive and install it on the new hard drive.
  7. Insert the new hard drive in the unit and proceed with the installation of your original operating system.
