Hot keys refer to a combination of keys that can be pressed any time to activate special functions of the computer. Most hot keys operate in a cyclic manner. You can easily identify hot keys via the icons imprinted on the keyboard. The GL30 and GL80 hot keys are as follows:

FN+F1

“Zz” Icon (F1): Places the Notebook PC in suspend mode (either Save-to-RAM or Save-to-Disk depending on sleep button setting in power management setup).

FN+F2

Radio Antenna Icon (F2): Toggles the wireless radio antenna and bluetooth antennas ON and OFF.

FN+F5

Filled Sun Icon (F5): Decreases the display brightness

FN+F6

Open Sun Icon (F6): Increases the display brightness

FN+F7

LCD Icon (F7): Toggles the display panel ON and OFF. This also stretches the screen area (on certain models) to fill the entire display when using low resolution modes.

FN+F8

LCD/Monitor Icons (F8): Toggles between the Notebook PC’s LCD display and an external monitor in this series: Notebook PC LCD -> External Monitor -> Both. (This function does not work in 256 Colors; select High Color in Display Property Settings.) IMPORTANT! Connect the external monitor before booting up the Notebook PC.

FN+F10

Speaker Mute Icon (F10): Toggles the speakers between MUTE and ON (only in Windows OS).

FN+F11

Volume Down Icon (F11): Pressing this will decrease the volume (only in Windows OS).

FN+F12

Volume Up Icon (F12): Pressing this will increase the volume (only in Windows OS).

FN+INS

Num Lk (Ins): Toggles the numeric keypad (number lock) ON and OFF. Creates a larger portion of the keyboard for number entering.

FN+DEL

Scr Lk (Del): Toggles the “Scroll Lock” ON and OFF. Creates a larger portion of the keyboard for cell navigation.
