There are a number of different ports, panels, and switches located in various locations on the WinBook TL35 notebook. This article will describe these items:

Top Open View:

  1. Stereo Speakers
    To adjust the volume of the integrated speakers, press the volume-control key combinations.
  2. Quick Launch and Power Buttons
    Descriptions of these buttons are located HERE.
  3. Keyboard
    The built-in keyboard provides all the functions of a full-sized keyboard.
  4. Touchpad
    The touchpad with its buttons is a pointing device that provides the same functions as a desktop mouse.
  5. Status LEDs
    Descriptions of these LEDs are located HERE.

Bottom View:

WARNING! The bottom of the Notebook PC can get very hot. Be careful when handling the Notebook PC while it is in operation or if it has recently been in operation. High temperatures are normal during charging or operation. Do not use on soft surfaces such as beds or sofas which may block the vents. DO NOT PUT THE NOTEBOOK PC ON YOUR LAP OR OTHER PARTS OF THE BODY TO AVOID INJURY FROM THE HEAT.

  1. Battery Lock/Unlock Button
    Used to lock the battery in place so that it cannot be removed.
  2. Air Vents
    Provides air flow for system cooling.
    IMPORTANT!
    Make sure that paper, books, clothing, cables, or other objects do not block any of the air vents or else overheating of the Notebook PC may occur.
  3. Battery Release Button
    A sping-loaded latch for releasing the battery pack.
  4. Battery Pack
    Used to supply power to the computer when the AC adapter is not connected.

Front View:

  1. IEEE 1394
    The IEEE 1394 port (sometimes referred to as Firewire) is a high-speed bus that allows you to connect such as digital video cameras, external hard drives, etc.
  2. Audio Ports (From left to right)

    Microphone: Used for an external microphone.

    Headphone/SPDIF Out: A connector for speakers or headphones

     

Back View:

  1. Kensington® Lock Port
    The Kensington® lock port allows the Notebook PC to be secured using Kensington® compatible Notebook PC security products. These security products usually include a metal cable and lock that prevent the Notebook PC to be removed from a fixed object. Some security products may also include a motion detector to sound an alarm when moved.
  2. Battery Pack
    Used to supply power to the computer when the AC adapter is not connected.

Left View:

  1. Optical Disk Drive
    Used for installing software, accessing data and playing music/movie on the computer. Depending on the model of the computer, it may come with a CD or DVD writer that can write to CD-R/RW and DVD+R/-R/+RW/-RW discs.
  2. USB Port (2.0/1.1)
    Supports USB-interface peripheral devices such as mice, keyboards, portable hard disks, printers and more.
  3. Express Card Slot
    The new Express Card interface is smaller and faster than PC Card interface. The Express Card technology takes advantage of the scalable, high-bandwidth serial PCI Express and USB 2.0 interfaces.
  4. Card Reader
    This 3-in-1 card reader supports MMC (multi-media card), SD (secure digital) and MS (memory stick) cards.

Right View:

  1. USB Ports (2.0/1.1)
    Supports USB-interface peripheral devices such as mice, keyboards, portable hard disks, printers and more.
  2. Modem (RJ-11) Port
    Used to make a dial-up connection using a telephone line.
  3. LAN (RJ-45) Port
    Used to connect to a network using a network cable.
  4. Air Vents
    Provides air flow for system cooling.
    IMPORTANT!
    Make sure that paper, books, clothing, cables, or other objects do not block any of the air vents or else overheating of the Notebook PC may occur.
  5. VGA Port
    Allows the computer to be displayed on an external monitor or other standard VGA-compatible devices, such as a projector.
  6. Power Connector
    Used to connect the AC adapter to supply power for the computer.
