  • Turn OFF the computer. Disconnect the AC power cord, remove the battery, and disconnect all cables or devices attached to the notebook.
  • Carefully turn the notebook over and lay it on a flat surface.
  • Remove the two (2) screws from the hard drive compartment cover. These screws are shown in red on the image below.
  • Remove the hard drive compartment cover.
  • Remove the one (1) screw that is holding the hard drive in place (circled in red in the picture to the right).
  • Gently pull the strap away from the hard drive connector and lift the hard drive up and out of the notebook chassis.
  • Remove the four (4) screws from the side of the hard drive that hold the hard drive into the rail kit.
  • Place rail kit on new hard drive with the removal strap side towards the end of the hard drive with the pins. Secure the rail kit with the four (4) screws that held the it to the previous hard drive.
  • Place hard drive back into the notebook chassis and slide it straight into the hard drive connector. The hard drive should NOT be at an angle. If it is not sitting flat in the chassis then remove the hard drive and make sure to line up the rail kit with the chassis.
  • Secure the hard drive into place using the long screw that held it in previously.
  • Replace the hard drive cover and secure it with the final two (2) screws.
