Replacing the CMOS battery in the WinBook A700 series notebook

Computers have an internal battery to keep the computers settings when there is no power to the computer. This battery may need replaced from time to time. Follow the directions below to replace the CMOS battery in the WinBook A700 series notebook.
- Turn OFF the computer. Disconnect the AC cord and all cables/devices attached to the notebook.
- Carefully turn the notebook over and lay it on a flat surface.
- Locate and remove the eight (8) screws from the system device compartment cover.
- Remove the cover.
- Release the wireless card from the MiniPCI socket. Gently press out on the latches located on both edges of the socket at the same time. The card should pop up at an angle. (see picture below)
- Slide the card out of the socket.
- Carefully, remove the two antennas from the wireless card. These will un-snap like a button.

- There is a black plastic cover held down by a piece of tape. Remove the tape and peel the plastic cover over to reveal the CMOS battery.
- To remove the battery from its socket, gently push the brass-like holder to away from the battery until it is out of the way and lift the battery out.
- Insert a new battery into the socket.
- Replace the black plastic cover over the CMOS battery.
- Replace the wireless card and its antennas.
- Replace the system device compartment cover and secure it with the eight (8) screws.
