  1. Back up the installed drive completely (unless you are reseating the drive only).
  2. Power down the system completely. You should unplug the AC adapter and remove the battery before removing the drive. Disconnect any attached peripherals.
  3. Turn the system over. The front of the unit should be facing you.
  4. The hard disk drive (HDD) compartment is located in the front middle of the unit. There are is one screw that secures the compartment cover to the unit. Remove the screw and set it in a safe place. Slide the cover towards you to remove it from the notebook.
  1. Pull the black arrow tab towards you in order to slide the hard drive rail kit out of the notebook.
  1. The drive is attached to the rail kit by 4 screws. Remove the screws and set them in a safe place. Angle the drive up and out of the rail kit.
  2. Remove the new hard drive from its anti-static bag. You can use the same anti-static bag to store your old hard drive.
  3. Angle the drive back into the rail kit. Secure the 4 screws that attach the drive to the rail kit.
  4. Slide the rail kit into place. Be certain that the screw hole on the rail kit aligns completely with the screw hole in the case.
  5. Replace the hard drive cover by laying it flat on the compartment opening and sliding it towards the center of the unit until the screw hole is aligned with the cover hole. Insert and tighten the compartment cover screw.
