This article demonstrates how to remove and reinstall a hard drive in the WinBook X600 series notebook computers.

  1. Turn OFF the computer. Disconnect the AC cord and all cables/devices attached to the notebook.
  2. Carefully turn the notebook over and lay it on a flat surface.
  3. Locate and remove the two (2) screws from the hard disk compartment cover.

  1. Remove the cover.
  2. Gently lift the hard drive up so that the hard drive connector is accessible.

  1. Gently pull the ribbon cable connecting the hard drive to the notebook. Note: For reseating the drive only please skip to step 10 next.

  1. Remove the hard drive from the black plastic antistatic cover. There is nothing holding the hard drive in, simply slide the hard drive out.
  2. Insert the new hard drive into the antistatic cover.
  3. Connect the ribbon cable to the hard drive pins.
  4. Reseat the hard drive module into the bay. Carefully slide the hard drive pins into the connector.
  5. Replace the hard disk compartment cover and secure it with the two (2) screws.
  6. The hard drive is now installed. If a new hard drive was installed Windows will need to be reinstalled next.
