Q. My speakers aren't working correctly. How do I verify that the speakers are causing the problem? A. First, try your speakers with a different audio source to eliminate the possibility that the problem with the speakers is unrelated to the computer system. The speakers can be plugged into a Walkman, portable stereo or TV headphone jack to verify if the problem is with the speakers or the computer system. If the speakers are still not functioning properly, please contact the retailer you purchased the speakers from, or contact Labtec at (360) 896-2000. Q. I hear a hum in my speakers. Is this normal? A. A slight hum is normal when your computer is on but should not be discernable from one to two feet away. If the hum is louder than this, you may be picking up RF interference. Verify that your cables are as short as possible, especially the input cable from the sound card to the speakers, by coiling up any excess cable and tying the cable with a twist tie or zip strip. If shortening the cable does not reduce the hum, you may have a problem with the power adapter or amplifier in your speakers, in which case please contact the retailer you purchased the speaker model from, or contact Labtec directly at (360) 896-2000 Q. My speakers don't work. Are there software drivers available from Labtec? A. Drivers are not needed or supplied for the Labtec SS-100 speakers. The speakers are designed to work with anything that has a headphone jack. Verify the following:
Q. Why does the red/green LED light on my speakers not come on when I turn on the power switch? A. If you have FRESH batteries or the proper power supply installed and the light still does not come on, contact Labtec regarding your warranty coverage or a replacement AC adapter. Q. My speakers are plugged in to my XL in what I think is the line out port. It is the port with the little musical note above it. I have checked all of the volume levels and they have fresh batteries and or the AC adapter plugged in and have power but I'm still not getting any sound. What else could be wrong? A. The jack with the musical note next to it is actually a line in port, therefore is the incorrect 1/8" audio jack on you WinBook. Plug the speakers into the jack with the illustration of headphones next to it. Q. I am trying to hook my Labtec speakers up to my XP5 docking station and my sound volume is very low or nonexistent. The volume is turned up on my speakers, I just don't get any sound. What could be wrong? A. The XP5 docking station has it's own volume control for any external speakers that are plugged into the back of the dock. The volume knob is located on the left-hand side, below where the unit is located. Turning the knob toward you turns the volume up and turning the knob away turns the volume down. Q. I am hooking up my Labtec speakers to my WinBook LM. I am hooking them up to the headphone jack. The sound is working, but my speakers sound like they are distorted. What can I do to stop this? A. The LM has a Line Out and a Headphones jack. Try plugging the speakers into the Line Out port and change the Windows95 volume control to 25%. Q. Where do I find a replacement power adapter for my speakers? A. Power adapters are available through Labtec. You can order replacements directly from Labtec. They can be replaced under warranty if your speakers are under one year old. Labtec's sales phone number is (360) 896-2000. They are open weekdays 8AM-5PM Pacific time. Q.
