Q. Where does my secondary battery go? A. The battery will go in the options bay, the same bay as the CD-ROM drive and the floppy.
Q. Can I boot up off of my secondary battery alone? A. No, The primary battery is required for the machine to boot up. Q. How do I charge my secondary battery? A. When the battery is in the options bay, and the unit is plugged into ac power, the battery will automatically start charging. Q. What are the specifications of the secondary battery? A. The specifications for the LM secondary battery and the FX/XP5Pro Secondary battery are both the same. They are both 8 cell, Lithium Ion batteries. Q. Can I put my secondary battery in the primary battery bay? A. No, the secondary battery was designed to fit only in the options bay and nowhere else. Q. Can I use my secondary battery without having my primary battery in the machine? A. The secondary battery will not function on its own. It needs to have the primary battery installed in order for to function. Q. Can I insert the secondary battery while the machine is turned on? A. The secondary battery can be inserted into the machine while it is turned on, but only if there was previously no device in the options bay. The battery can be taken in and out while the machine is powered on. Q. Can I swap out my floppy or CD-ROM drive with my secondary battery while the machine is turned on when my battery starts getting low? A. The battery cannot be swapped out while the machine is running. If you change from one device in the options bay to another, the machine will lock up and you will have to power down the unit to restart. Q. How do I cycle my secondary battery? A. Cycling procedures are similar to the primary battery. First, disable all power management in the BIOS. Second, restart your computer into MS-DOS mode and let your batteries run all the way down until they both go completely dead. Let the batteries cool for about 30 minutes, and then plug the AC power back in and let the batteries perform a complete charge. Q. Is there an external battery charger that I can use to charge my secondary battery without it having to be in the machine? A. There is not an external battery charger that can be used to charge the secondary battery. The only way to charge the battery is to have it in the machine while the machine is connected to AC power. |
